Royal Nairobi Golf Club (RNGC) is a premier private members Club that provides world class sporting and recreational facilities that are second to none in our region. RNGC is located in very close proximity to vibrant Nairobi city along Muchai drive off Ngong Road. RNGC is seeking to recruit highly skilled, service-oriented, and dynamic professionals for the following positions:

1. GOLF PROFESSIONAL POSITION

RNGC is seeking to recruit a highly skilled, service-oriented, and dynamic professional for the position of Club Professional (Club Pro). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional golfing experiences, promoting golf development programs, enhancing member engagement, and supporting the Club’s strategic vision of becoming a premier golfing destination.

Position Summary:
The Club Professional will play a critical role in advancing golfing standards, member satisfaction, junior golf development, golf academy programs, tournaments management, and golf-related revenue generation in alignment with the Club’s Strategic Plan and Performance Framework.

Job Purpose
To oversee and deliver professional golf instruction, golfing operations, tournament coordination, member engagement initiatives, and golf development programs aimed at enhancing the overall golfing experience, increasing facility utilization, and supporting sustainable membership growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Golf Instruction & Player Development
Provide high-quality golf coaching and instructional programs for members, juniors, beginners, and elite golfers.
Develop and implement structured golf training programs, clinics, camps, and coaching schedules.
Spearhead the establishment and operationalization of the Club’s Golf Academy.
Design and implement junior golf development initiatives to nurture future golfing talent and promote youth participation.
Conduct golf clinics, skills assessments, swing analysis, and player performance improvement programs.

Member Experience & Engagement
Deliver exceptional customer service and personalized golfing experiences to members and guests.
Support initiatives aimed at increasing member satisfaction, retention, and engagement levels.
Organize member engagement activities, social golf events, competitions, and corporate golf days.
Foster an inclusive, vibrant, and welcoming golfing community for members across all demographics.
Support implementation of member feedback and service improvement initiatives.

Golf Operations & Tournament Management
Coordinate and manage club tournaments, golf events, competitions, and championships.
Oversee tee scheduling, handicapping administration, rules enforcement, and competition logistics.
Ensure compliance with golf rules, etiquette, safety standards, and professional golfing regulations.
Collaborate with the Golf Manager to maintain excellent golfing conditions and seamless golfing operations.
Support management of the driving range and ensure continuous training of golf aides and support staff.

Revenue Growth & Business Development
Support golf-related revenue generation initiatives through golf lessons, academy programs, tournaments, golf tourism, and corporate partnerships.
Promote utilization of golfing facilities and services to achieve targeted facility usage levels.
Assist in marketing golf programs, tournaments, and golf events to members, guests, and prospective clients.
Support initiatives aimed at enhancing the Club’s brand visibility and reputation as a premier golfing destination.

Operational Excellence & Technology Utilization
Utilize modern golf technologies and digital tools to enhance member experience and golf instruction.
Maintain accurate records relating to coaching programs, tournaments, player development, and golf operations.
Contribute to implementation of technology-driven golfing solutions including online booking systems, digital scorecards, and virtual golf training.
Ensure compliance with established standard operating procedures, policies, and operational controls.

Leadership, Governance & Sustainability
Promote professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all golfing operations.
Support implementation of governance, safety, and compliance standards within golf operations.
Champion environmental sustainability and responsible golfing practices.
Participate in community engagement initiatives and inclusivity programs aimed at growing the game of golf.

ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in Management or related field; Degree is an added advantage.
MUST be a PGA Certified Professional or similar, with active membership of PGA and/or PGA Kenya.
Five (5) years’ minimum experience in a similar role.
MUST be a member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of Kenya and licensed by the Register of Sports, as per the Sports Act 2013.
The position holder MUST be capable of running the RNGC junior academy.
Knowledge of the World Golf Handicap system, golf rules and regulations.
Golf administration experience will be an added advantage.
Must have two years’ experience as an Assistant Golf Professional.
Expertise in golfing rules and regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures, golf course maintenance, finance, budgeting, and golf management systems.

2. POSITION: GOLF MANAGER

RNGC is seeking to recruit a highly competent, strategic, and results-oriented professional for the position of Golf Manager. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the golf course and golfing operations in alignment with the Club’s Strategic Plan, member experience objectives, operational excellence goals, and sustainability agenda.

Position Summary:
The Golf Manager will play a pivotal role in positioning the Club as a premier golfing destination by delivering exceptional course conditions, world-class golfing experiences, operational efficiency, and sustainable golf development initiatives.

Job Purpose
To lead and oversee all golf operations and course management functions to ensure delivery of excellent course conditions, exceptional golfing experiences, sustainable golf development programs, and operational efficiency in line with the Club’s strategic objectives and performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Golf Course Management & Quality Assurance
Oversee the maintenance and presentation of the golf course to achieve and sustain excellent course condition ratings.
Develop and implement comprehensive golf course maintenance programs covering greens, fairways, bunkers, drainage systems, irrigation systems, tee boxes, and landscaping.
Lead initiatives for conversion of greens from soil-based to sand-based systems in line with the Club’s modernization agenda.
Spearhead automation of irrigation systems and implementation of climate-resilient landscaping practices.
Coordinate development and execution of the Golf Course Master Plan.
Ensure continuous compliance with PGA standards and support attainment of PGA status.

Golf Operations & Member Experience
Deliver exceptional golfing experiences that enhance member satisfaction, engagement, retention, and loyalty.
Manage day-to-day golf operations including tee scheduling, tournaments, handicapping, golf events, competitions, and member services.
Collaborate with the Club Pro to enhance golfing programs and golf academy initiatives.
Develop and implement innovative golfing activities, tournaments, junior golf programs, and member engagement initiatives.
Ensure effective management of golfing facilities, practice ranges, golf equipment, and golfing support services.

Strategic Leadership & Business Development
Drive implementation of strategic golf-related initiatives aligned to the Club’s five-year strategic plan.
Contribute to membership growth through enhanced golfing experiences and golf tourism initiatives.
Support development of corporate partnerships, professional tournaments, and branding opportunities.
Identify and implement revenue-generating golf programs and initiatives.
Prepare departmental budgets, forecasts, operational plans, and performance reports.

Operational Excellence & Resource Management
Ensure efficient utilization of golf course resources, machinery, equipment, and personnel.
Oversee procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle management of golf course machinery and equipment.
Implement cost-control measures and operational efficiencies to optimize resource utilization.
Establish and monitor departmental KPIs, SOPs, and service standards.

Team Leadership & People Management
Lead, mentor, supervise, and develop golf operations and grounds maintenance teams.
Foster a high-performance culture anchored on accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Support employee engagement, workforce capability development, and retention initiatives.
Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, labour, and environmental standards.

Sustainability, Governance & Risk Management
Champion environmentally sustainable golf course management practices including water conservation and ecological stewardship.
Implement risk mitigation measures relating to environmental risks, changing demographics, competition, and operational disruptions.
Ensure governance compliance, safety standards, and adherence to Club policies and procedures.
Promote diversity, inclusion, and community engagement initiatives within golf operations.

ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Golf Course Management, Turfgrass Science, Sports Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Business Administration, or related field.
Professional certification in Golf Course Management or related discipline will be an added advantage.
Membership in relevant professional bodies is desirable.
Minimum of seven (7) years’ progressive experience in golf operations or golf course management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Demonstrated experience managing championship-level golf courses and golfing facilities.
Proven experience in strategic planning, project management, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.
Experience in golf tourism, golf events management, and member engagement programs will be an added advantage.
